Who we are
Mogul Busters is a locally owned small business. We have been operating at Mt. Hood Skibowl since the 1950's and hope to continue for generations to come. We serve families with children ages 4 through 13 on the weekends. Our classes are small and usually range between 5 and 10 children. We also offer adult classes for those parents that would like to learn a snow sport with their children or brush up on a few things!
Generations of Instruction
Many of our current instructors were former students or are parents of our current students. We are a community of like-minded, recreational skiers and snowboarders with a passion for responsible enjoyment of the sport. All of our instructors are certified through the Professional Ski Instructors Association and/or the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. We have taught over 12,000 kids how to ski and snowboard, and many of our former students went on to race competitively or grow in back country exploration and trick performance.
We believe that skiing and snowboarding are family sports that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.
While children may be exposed to skis or snowboards as soon as they can walk, they benefit most from group classes around age four. One on one attention and early exposure to the sport is best sourced from parents, guardians or friends of the family. This is part of the reason we do not offer private lessons to children.
We're here to making skiing fun. If your child is not ready to participate in a group class, then we will suggest a half day lesson or perhaps another year of maturity. Every child learns at a different pace, and while siblings may start in the same level, they may end the day at different ones. This is okay!
Mogul Busters is about building confidence, enjoying the mountain and staying safe. We are not a competitive race academy or a daycare center. We teach children to ski and snowboard with honesty and empathy. After all, many of us remember when we were just starting at Mogul Busters too!
